Kickin’ it at Soccer Camp with David Villa
David Villa, World Cup champion and top goal scorer for the Spanish National Soccer Team, and captain of the New York City Football Club, is developing youth academies in the United States to pass on his skills to children involved in the sport. The first DV7 Soccer Academy opened last January in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. This summer, Mr. Villa is bringing his DV7 Soccer Academy Spanish soccer methods to Queens College, as part of their Summer Camp happenings.
Announcing his association with the college, Mr. Villa elaborated, “In this camp I want to teach the children the concepts and the values that I have learned throughout my soccer career. It is an unparalleled and special opportunity to be able to begin this project in such a diverse and soccer-passionate community as Queens.”
Josep Gombau Balaguer, a professional soccer coach and director of Villa’s DV7 Academy, will direct the sessions. Villa personally participates in a training session with each group; evaluating their play and giving them feedback on technique.
If you have a youngster who loves the game, imagine how exciting it would be for them to be on the same playing field with David Villa. If you’re interested in offering your child the absolute best in soccer instruction, this might just be what you are looking for. And, if it’s convenience you’re looking for, Queens College is a quick fifteen-minute ride from the Alexander at Rego Center. That sounds like a hat trick to us!
- Camp sessions run from July 25th through the 29th from 9:00am to 4:00pm daily, and August 1st though the 5th, with the same full day schedule. The program cost $695 per week.
Each participant receives two full DV7 Soccer Academy kits, including jerseys, shorts and socks; an Adidas mini soccer ball signed by David Villa; and a certificate of completion for David Villa’s DV7 Soccer Academy at Queens College Summer Camp 2016.

While your child is getting his/her goal on, no need for you to call a time out, you might want to consider staying on campus to enjoy a lecture, go for a swim, or attend one the college’s many day activities available to Queens residents.
