Hey, Go Fly a Kite!

Kite flyingNo, not an insult – this is actually an invitation to enjoy a kite building and flying afternoon in Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City.

Children will build kites using recycled material and their imagination.  After selecting one of three basic designs available, the children are encouraged to personalize the kite anyway they want; they may draw from the theme of the event, which is exploring ideas of flying, freedom, and community, or be inspired from the park’s fantastic view of Manhattan, or just create a “Happy Mother’s Day, Mom” kite.

The remainder of the afternoon will reflect a display of colorful art as these beautiful kites soar high above the park.  Unfortunately, workshop space is limited and participation for this free event will be on a first come, first served basis.
